An invitation to my DIY synth-Workshop :)

Weird Sound Generator (16-20 August – Katowice – Poland)

DIY (Do It Yourself) is a subculture thats more and more popular. DIY is a term used to describe building, modifying, or repairing of something without the aid of experts or professionals. For instance making your clothings, building furniture, modifying or hacking of instruments and even releasing music without a record lable.

At the workshop participants will be soldering, building and designing their own sound generator. A small little analogue synth that was invented by Ray Wilson, a known person in DIY world. To take part in this workshop you don’t have to be a soldering specialist. The project is for beginners, but if you the proud owner of two left hands this might not be the ideal project for you ;)

During the workshop we will look at the basics of analogue sound generating. A peak into the magic world of electronic parts that generate sounds straight from mars. Participants will learn the basics of soldering, the main remarks, and how to read values of the different electronic parts and how to start future projects.

After the soldering will be finished all participants will build there own wooden case for the synthesizer. The next step will be to design the front plate of this little noise maker. When everything is finished all participants will join each other and form a orchestra that will present all instruments in a live concert directed by Ronnie Deelen.

Don’t be afraid to join the workshop if you’ve soldered anything, the most important is the be interested in electronics, sound, music, noise and design.

If you want to join, leave a comment here, or write an email to zapisy.takk@gmail.com and ask about the question form for the workshop called “Weird Sound Generator” If you’re polish just go here.

Inkygoodness presents Character Totem ‘Home-Coming’

bearded many legg

Inkygoodness presents Character Totem ‘Home-Coming’ marks the return of the Character Totem exhibition to Birmingham, for a two week exhibition in July. The character totem is a really cool project that debuted as part of the official Pictoplasma Character Walk earlier this year in Berlin.
For this exhibition I have been invited to send one work over. I decided to ask my previous professor if I can for once more make a silk screen print in his studio of the Art Academy in Katowice. Above you can see a fragment of the print, the whole work I will put online on the opening day of the exhibition.

The festival is screening a random selection of films, and on the last day of the festival there is a concert of Krach der Roboter supported with a dj-set by me. All for free, so drop by!

Today I’m playing at the real cool place in Katowice. Its a bar where you can vote on horse races, there even used to be a race track. Unfortunately the race track is gone, but a great building is still there. Come by today, the event takes place during the whole day, if you come in the afternoon you will get a free entrance for the evening party.

Teleport Katowice

As mentioned earlier here, I’m working on a new group project. The goal of the project is to create a soundtrack for a movie, and perform this music life during the screening. The name for this project is “Teleport Katowice”, the contributors of the project are the old members of RGBoy (Jan Dybala, Piotrek Ceglarek and me) plus Wojtek Bednarski , who is the director and producer, and cameraman of the film.

We have started this project somewhere around Januari 2011, since than we have had regular jammings. This leaded to many hours of recorded material, which in some way we have to segregate. The final concert will have a duration of about 1 hour, at the moment we have managed to choose our 9 most favorite or interesting recordings. The can be listened to here

The photo shows our amazing studio/jamming place on the roof of a former water pressure building.

More sales

A few new auctions on ebay, check them out here. There’s nanoloop 1.3 and an lsdjmc, but the best thing that I’m selling is the Tote a Tune keyboard. Lovely design combined with a beautiful sound. Fully analogue and made in the 1971, when they still produced quality toys for children.

Meeblip(per)’s first sounds

Meeblipping by ronnieism
A few weeks ago I soldered a meeblip synth. Cool project that can be ordered here. You can order either a DIY package, or a ready build one. Yesterday I made some recordings and played around a bit with the thing. All sounds are generated with the meeblip. Just did a little of panning in ableton, little bit of delay on one channel, some EQ and a tiny bit of compression…..
